COVID-19 Information

The ADC is acutely aware of the fear and uncertainty facing designers and producers across the country. This is an extremely challenging time, with great risks for the financial health and well-being of our members.

Please don't hesitate to connect with the office, or the Board Executive if you have any questions or concerns.

We are working actively to advocate on behalf of our members - and designers across the country - and to develop and disseminate resources for everyone.

We are also committed to supporting our members in their own advocacy and recovery as much as we possibly can.

Individual Advocacy — WRITE YOUR MPs and MPPs/MLAs

In addition to the work the ADC is doing as an Arts Service Organization, both individually and as part of broader coalitions, we know individual advocacy can often be especially helpful in communicating the needs of citizens.  We will share any initiatives and templates that we can here.

Updated: May 13, 2020

This document includes data and advocacy ideas underpinned by: the research ADC has conducted; by the shared efforts of the coalition between IATSE, CAEA, CFM, and ADC; and other guidance we've received to date. We encourage you to select and make use of some of the points you find here to help strengthen your letters to government leaders.

Updated: May 13, 2020

If you are unsure of your representative in Federal or Provincial Parliament, we have prepared a document with links to access this information nation-wide, including some local city councils. Also included are some key leaders in government who you should also write.

A small section of this letter includes a personal reflection: we encourage you to amend it with a personal note or reflection of your own.

Designer Town Halls

The ADC is hosting regular Town Halls for designers across the country (member and non-member). The archives of these Town Halls is available on-demand, by request.

For non-members: please email to request access to the archive links.

Letter of Intent for Productions where a Contract cannot be issued

In order to facilitate the planning process and the initiation of creative discussions, the ADC has prepared a temporary Letter of Intent.

Designer Surveys

In order to help focus our advocacy, we are conducting a variety of surveys during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you can, pleas take a few minutes to complete one of our active surveys.

This survey is now closed. Thank you to all of our respondents!

Our 2nd survey is geared towards helping us further our advocacy for: improved emergency supports; long-term industry supports; and clarity in planning with producers.

This survey is now closed.  Thank you to all of our respondents!

Letters to Government

The ADC has sent various letters to government officials throughout the pandemic, and are making them public here.
