FULL MEMBERSHIP is open to designers with a minimum of three production credits with a recognized professional theatre company or independent producer. Fees include annual dues of $265 (for 2019) and a 2% filing fee per contract (to a maximum of $1,000)
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to designers in the early stages of a design career who may not have the minimum of three professional credits. Status as an Associate member is limited to three years, and a member may promote to Full Membership as soon as the three-production threshold is reached. Associate members do not pay dues but do contribute a 2% filing fee per contract (to a maximum of $1,000).
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP is for students registered in a recognized design or theatre production program, but not currently engaged in professional design. Student status is limited to 5 years. Should a student be offered and accept a professional contract, it is recommended that they make application for Associate Membership.
NON-RESIDENT MEMBERSHIP is for a Full member who relocates outside Canada for an extended period. They will continue to have access to the newsletter and retain voting privileges, but are precluded from using ADC contracts. Non-resident dues are 50% of the prevailing annual fee. Should a Non-Resident member accept a Canadian contract, they must immediately return to Full membership status and pay that year’s membership dues and filing fees.
EMERITUS MEMBERSHIP is for a designer who has previously been a Full ADC member for a minimum of ten years and who is no longer regularly designing. Emeritus members pay annual dues of $50, and may file up to two ADC contracts per year (including the usual filing fees). Emeritus members wishing to file more than two contracts per year must return to Full membership status. Emeritus members are not eligible for Critical Illness Coverage, but retain full voting rights of membership.
HONOURARY MEMBERSHIP is awarded to an individual recognized by the Association as having made a significant contribution to design and designers in Canada. Any ADC member may nominate an Honourary Member by writing to the Board of Directors, who may second the nomination for approval by a full membership vote. Honourary members do not pay dues, but do contribute filing fees.
Full members not in arrears may request HONOURABLE WITHDRAWAL and pay no dues, but continue to receive newsletters. They may request reinstatement at any time by writing to the Board and paying any applicable fees.
