Conferences & Calls for Submissions
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Triga Creative & The Centre for Sustainable Practice in the Arts invite you to their inaugural Eco-Design Charrette between December 2nd - 20th, 2019 at Triga Studio in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto. The Eco-Design Charrette aims to fuel each participant with the knowledge and inspiration needed to design with an ecological consciousness. Through rapid design seeding we will expand how we imagine scenography and its power to change our world.
The Eco-Design Charrette is centred on the creation of concepts for each of the fifty Climate Change Theatre Action Plays (http://www.climatechangetheatreaction.com/). Over the span of the Charrette each participating designer will create a seed concept for 1-4 of the short plays. In order to support this work and create a context for the cross pollination of ideas, Triga Creative will curate a series of eco- scenography workshops, panel conversations, play readings and open studio time. The Eco-Design Charrette period will be an opportunity to develop your eco-scenographic practice alongside other designers and generate design concepts for publication and exhibition with an international reach.
All designs generated during the Eco-Design Charrette will be published in a two-part volume by Centre for Sustainable Practices in the Arts in 2020 (www.climatechangetheatreaction.com/books/). The designs will also be exhibited at World Stage Design in Calgary 2021 (go.ucalgary.ca). Additional exhibit opportunities may become available.
To support your professional development and design work during the Eco-Design Charrette, Triga Creative will provide workspace, meals, tools and equipment, flexible scheduling, and exclusive access to professional development opportunities that will build your practise in eco-scenography. The charrette will culminate the global participatory CCTA festival with a closing party where we will share the work created during the three-week charrette residency with the local Toronto community.
